"I almost died and all I could think about was you."
Happy 5th anniversary! ♥
Yes, a genius at annoying me.
The thing I love most about this is how Castle has no idea Becketts been to one of his book signings before she went up to him at his book party in 1x01. Which begs the question…what was her impression of him back then? The same as it was in 1x01?
you’re just like your momma, both playing in worlds where you don’t belong.
"You should know, you’re engaged to a genius.”People always forget how smart he is, and that makes me sad.
It makes me sad too. I think it’s easy for the fandom to paint him into the goofball = village idiot role because that’s a generalization that doesn’t require lots of thought or effort to think about, but he’s definitely far from that. His theories may be silly, but he’s not stupid by any stretch of the imagination.
I can’t lie and say I wouldn’t love to see a more acknowledgment of his smarts on the show, too, but I definitely see more of the generalization from fandom.
One of the tricks he employs in the show is to use obfuscating stupidity- he plays the fool to lull people into a false sense of security. It’s part of his “jokester” persona, but what it means is that people who should really know better (ie the fans) take that facade seriously instead of the deadly sharp mind that lies underpins it.
What’s funny is the people who don’t take him seriously are often the very ones worshipping at the altar of Beckett, without realising for a second she’d never be with someone who was not her intellectual equal, who challenged her just as much as she challenged him.
OMG WHAT DID I DO!?
